Pizza Dough Meat Pie

Meat pies are so yummy and great for a quick meal or a party tray. This recipe is so delicious and not hard to make at all.  I had frozen beef from my tamale recipe ready to be used in the freezer. All I had to do was make a basic pizza dough with my bread machine. The meat pie filling consists  of beef with a red chile sauce, fresh onion and peppercinis for a tangy pop.  You can fill your pies with ground beef, chicken or turkey meat.  It’s all up to you!

Make a basic pizza dough: (you can use store bought dough if you don’t have a fancy bread machine) But if you must master bread like me, buy a bread machine.  See the link at the bottom of the page to order a bread machine.

Ingredients:  makes 8-10 Meat Pies

  • 1 1/2 cups room temperature water
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 1/2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 2/3 cups wheat flour
  • 2 tsp dry active yeast

I added all these ingredients to my wonderful bread machine, which I named Charlie.  I waited 1 1/2 hours for it to proof and rise; then it was ready to be rolled out.

Meat filling: Click here to see the recipe for the tamale meat filling; or, you can use ground beef or chicken with some taco seasoning.

For the filling add:

  • sliced raw onion
  • pepperocini

Roll the dough into small tennis balls.

Add cheese, meat, raw onion, and peppercini.

Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges.

Place each pie on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.  Spread softened butter over each pie.

Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

Ta-Da! You are a star!

I wrap these up in the fridge and warm them up for a quick meal.  The pepperocini gives this pie a tangy delicious bite.  You must try it!

This is my bread machine.  I absolutely love it!
