Happy October

“Fall For Me” Chex Cereal Snack Mix

I love summer, and I love when the scorching heat is over too.  That means fall is here, and so are all those fall recipes that get me cooking and baking.  Halloween is one of my favorite times of year-as you can see me taking a ride on my broom stick.  I love Halloween food, and the ability to scare my kids and blame it on Halloween;) Yes, I am that mom.

I like to treat the kids to new things each year.  To start October off, I made a simple snack treat,  particularly because my kids always complain that other kids have way better snacks in their lunch than they have.  Well …., they will get a sweet surprise this week with my “Fall For Me” Chex Cereal Snack Mix”.   img_8895

  • 16 oz of semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup of peanut butter, or Nutella, or almond butter or cookie butter
  • 1/4 cup butter

Melt the 3 ingredients above in a microwave, or double broiler, stirring every 30 seconds until melted (total 2 min)

In a separate large bowl, mix next 4 ingredients together.

  • 6 cups of Rice Chex Cereal
  • 2 cups of Pretzels
  • 1 cup of candy corn
  • 2 cups of Reeses Pieces

Pour the chocolate mixture in the bowl with the dry ingredients and toss well.  Once the cereal mixture is coated, pour 1 cup of powdered sugar in a zip lock back and add half the cereal mixture  to the bag and mix it up,  repeat with the second half to use up all that powdered sugar.  Add more or less to your own liking. Pour it all in a bowl or pack it individually in baggies, then top if off with Reeses pieces and/or candy corn.

I use treat bags for everything.  Click on the link below if you need some treat bags.
