Homemade Corndogs

I should wear a cape with a big “S” for Super Mom.  I made homemade corndogs for the kids and they loved them! What a hit! Picky eaters cannot say no to this one.

  • 1 package of hot dogs
  • 1 cup Corn meal
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 1tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Heat your deep fryer  to high.  Mix all ingredients together,  and pour in a large drinking glass (except the hotdogs).  Place a popsicle stick in the hot dog and dip in the glass full of batter.  Gently place your corndog in the fryer and fry until crispy and golden brown.  Let corndogs cool and drain any excess oil on a paper towel, sprinkle with salt and serve with ketchup or mustard.

I have had my deep fryer for many years. I don’t fry much, but when I do, this simple fryer does a great job. Click this link below to see my deep fryer. They still make it so it must be good.
